climbing wall

 safe surface - rubber/foam padding?

This made me think about what is regarded as a safe surface to have around a play/activity area?...could trampoline material or gymnastics tumbling material count as safe?
This led me on to these ideas

I could even incorporate a hoop of some kind, just like the two images above

This image is of a tumbling tramp which leads into a foam pit

This image is of an actual tumbling strip in a gymnastics club arena in a competition
The same goes for the image below except the tumbling strip is being used during training

basic section, plan and elevation of the outside of boat sheds

After finishing designing this play area I had a development idea which incorporated
the playground objects: slide, stairs etc... not just into the space but also connect them to
the walls/roof of the boat shed. I could have ladders replacing some parts of the
solid wall and slides which connect directly to the floor and roof. I could even have slide
at the entrance so you can only enter the space if you go down the slide.
I feel this idea more strongly represents the atmosphere I wanted for the play area.

My walk through movie.
I showed myself entering the space around the boat sheds and as I started to go over the wooden bridge/walkway I started skipping, running/jumping. I did this to emphasise the idea that inside my boat shed I am going to design a playground/play/activity area.
I videoed my feet running, skipping, jumping as I entered the space. I did this as when I think back to memories of when I was a kid, I remember/ associate the 'playground space' with running, jumping, skipping...... basically as being a fun and exciting area.

Week One

Examples of spaces people use/ spaces where people meet
sidewalk cafes

 informal dining/cafeteria

This above image is of a room that has special glass which allows you to see outside while you are  going toilet. The people outside can't see inside as it is only one-way viewing. I think this is quite interesting as a room because of the one way glass.
